December is here, but never fear: we have a great list of fun, mostly-free Lowcountry autism events to round out 2015! This month features myriad support groups and some cookies with Santa too.
We do our best to post events on social media, and you can Like us on Facebook and follow on Twitter to stay current with the latest news. But it’s also helpful to have a listing of each month’s events, so that you can review the options available and decide which to attend.
The events below are listed in approximate chronological order.
National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Charleston Meeting
The Charleston-area NAMI meeting takes place in Moncks Corner on the first Tuesday of the month – Tuesday, December 1 this month – from 6 – 7:15pm at Moncks Corner Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 500 E. Main St., Moncks Corner, SC 29461.
This meeting is for both individuals in recovery and family and friends of people with mental illness. All meetings are confidential. For a full list of Charleston-area NAMI meetings, visit the NAMI Charleston Area website.
Early Autism Project Charleston Clinic – Parent Support Group
Date and Time: Tuesday, December 8 from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm.
Location: Early Autism Project Charleston Clinic, 1123 Queensborough Blvd. Suite 102, Mt. Pleasant, SC, 29464
Have you ever felt alone in your struggles as a parent? Wonder how other people do it? Come join us as we find support, build a network and share our experience, strength, and hope. Families with individuals of all ages on the autism spectrum are welcome.

Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry’s Cookies with Santa!
CML is partnering with Family Connection of South Carolina on Sunday, December 13 for an extra-SUPER SuperStars event: Cookies with Santa!
SuperStars is a FREE, registration-required event in which children with special needs and their families can visit the Museum, explore, and play without the crowds and over-stimulation.
Please be aware that this event is popular; to minimize crowding, you must pre-register for a 1-hour time slot (either 10a – 11a or 11a – 12p).
